Colégio Vértice

How to transform the world if you are not really connected to it? With that in mind, Vértice Around the World project offers international exchange and experience, broadening the horizons of students.

The School undertakes initiatives with strategic partners and offers challenging projects, with a high level of student engagement.

Boston Cambridge Institute – Vértice is part of a select group of educational institutions partnering with the Boston Cambridge Institute, an academic experience program involving the world’s top universities: Harvard University, MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Bentley University. With a focus, for example, on leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, and science, exchange programs take place during school holidays, with daily classes in English and cultural tours.

EduExplora – Based on Vértice’s performance and academic excellence, our School was invited in 2019 to participate in the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies program, in partnership with EduExplora. Targeting foreign Middle and High School students, the program offers activities with university tutors, as well as trips. Two other programs were included in 2020, following the same format: EduExplora at Yale and EduExplora Online Berkeley & Yale.

PASCH Initiative – Vértice has been part of the Schulen project for over ten years: Partner der Zukunft (PASCH), in partnership with the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Goethe Institute. The main purpose of the initiative is to foster German language learning in top schools around the world and to train young people for undergraduate or graduate studies in the country. Starting in 4th grade, our students can take the German extracurricular course and have access to cultural exchange programs, scholarships in Germany (5 per year), immersion in German universities, certificates of language proficiency, and a large number of activities, thus sharpening their intercultural skills. Because of the initiative, four Vértice alumni are now taking their undergraduate programs in Germany, in Engineering, Law, and other fields.

Lectures and meetings – As part of Vértice Around the World program, families and students have the opportunity to visit institutions promoting exchange and foreign university preparation programs, such as: Crimson, an educational consultancy specialized in United States applications; loveUK, a company assisting Brazilians in the admission process to attend United Kingdom universities; and NR Intercâmbio, for a Spanish exchange program in Mexico.

FAAP Forum – Every year, our High School students have rich experience at FAAP Forum, organized by FAAP International Relations undergraduate students. The project simulates International Agencies linked to the UN and introduces students to international political, social, economic, and cultural affairs. This happens through debates that develop speaking skills, argumentation, organization of ideas and persuasion to propose ideas that can solve current global problems.

NASA – The Space Settlement academic project (known as the NASA project) is an elective activity offered to Middle School students. The purpose of this competition is to create a society that will live in orbit in a huge spaceship. Students are challenged to find solutions to make this possible. As their final assignment, students write a short essay in English, which is sent to the international agency. In the 2019/2020 edition, a group of students from Vértice won 3rd place in the 9th-grade Large Group category! In that edition, a total of 2,646 essays were submitted, involving more than 14,000 students worldwide.

Formula 1 – Vértice is three times Brazilian champion of F1 in Schools, an international competition supported by Formula 1.  In this complex and challenging experience, High School students create teams and race car prototypes powered by compressed air, deepening their understanding of engineering, marketing, technology and entrepreneurship. School teams have already represented Brazil in Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Malaysia GP. Car engineering, performance in the elimination round, visual identity, business plan, stands, and presentation are among the criteria evaluated.
